Your Instructor

Balin Babcock was born and raised in the Matanuska Valley.  He attended Colony High School and the UAF/UAA system until he decided to join the Army in 2014. 

In the military, Balin pursued his dream and earned his Green Beret through the Special Forces Qualification Course. He specialized as a Weapons Sergeant and was directly involved in training personnel in firearms and defensive/offensive tactics. His students included inexperienced farmers, well trained Special Operations Forces, and hundreds of US Army, National Guard, and Marine Infantry.   

After leaving the military, he wanted to bring that wealth of knowledge and experience in training techniques and firearms tactics to his fellow Alaskans.  It is his belief that everyone should seek improvement and perfection in whatever they do and you can find him doing just that in local USPSA (competitive pistol) matches at Birchwood Recreation and Shooting Park.  Balin most recently placed 3rd place in his division in the 2023 USPSA State Sectional competition and 8th place overall.
